The Old basing Tree of Life
I made this with 160 children of Old Basing Infants School, Basingstoke. The children designed the templates from which the plywood shapes were made. Then, after I cut them out, the children carved incised designs onto them with V.tools. They then had a go at smoothing the edges with files and sanding them with abrasive paper to prepare them for painting. The 'tree' was built from oak and assembled and installed on site after construction in my workshop.
