These Public Art commissions require extensive research and consultation with all parties concerned, with much exchange of ideas and views, before an agreed proposal is arrived at. The start of the project is always an adventure, exploring new geography, uncovering unique local history, meeting lots of interesting people, and spending time with camera and sketchbook absorbing images and facts. Once the design is definite and agreed, the production part is focussed labour. Relief and pleasure comes when installation is complete and the job is done.
